About the petition and campaign:
An 11% 2-year cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) approximates the equivalent current-day value of the $15 / hr. living wage already passed by the ASOSU Student Fee Committee in 2021 (adjusted from the CPI-W index, Pacific region) for incidental fee-funded student workers.
Survey statistics from nearly fifty Oregon cities show Corvallis as the most severely rent-burdened city (37.1% of households).
Campaign objectives:
Secure passage of a $16.65+ COLA for student workers funded by the Corvallis incidental fee, which is allocated by the Associated Students of Oregon State University (ASOSU), the recognized student government.
This step alone would benefit over a thousand student workers in fee-funded units, including the Memorial Union, Dixon Rec Center, Performing Arts, Cultural Resource Centers, Community Engagement & Leadership (CEL), student media, the Family Resource Center, SafeRide, and others.
Support student organizing to win equivalent wage increases in non-fee funded departments, alongside competitive increases seen previously in large non-fee funded departments (e.g., UHDS).
